Numerical and Experimental Determination of the Wind Speed Value Causing Catastrophe of the Scissor Lift

The current work is devoted to the numerical determination of wind speed value, which can cause overturning mobile elevating platform scissor lift type. In first step analysis, scaled model real vehicle prepared. second step, used in aerodynamic tunnel determine force values and moment, act on vehicle. three different configurations are considered, namely: (a) raised maximum height with an additional bridge extended, (b) height, (c) half raised. each position, direction changed from range 0° 180° increment equal 15°. next CFD simulations carried out. ANSYS Fluent R22 software used. As a turbulent airflow, standard k-ε wall function adopted. obtained experimental results verify model. A very good agreement between experiment obtained. main result study, tipping moment corresponding that analyzed determined. It occurred lowest value for variant configuration V1crt = 22.315 m/s angle β 30° highest one third V3crt 34.534 15°, without any persons platform. presence human beings also considered.
